About
About Us
The Mississippi Braves are a talented 12U baseball team representing the heart of central Mississippi. Carrying forward the proud legacy of the Mississippi Braves name, our organization has deep roots in the local baseball community, including a decade-long connection to the former minor league team. Our squad consists of ten dedicated young athletes from across the region, from Hattiesburg to the Jackson metro area, who were carefully selected through competitive tryouts.
Under the leadership of our experienced coaching staff – Jeffrey Johnson, Terry Stroud, Brent Walker, Jeremy Phillips, and Mark Miller – the MS Braves have established themselves as a formidable presence in youth baseball across the Southeast. The team practices at both Hartfield Academy and their own indoor baseball facility. This dedication has already yielded impressive results, including three state championships in Grand Slam tournaments. Beyond their athletic achievements, our players are known for their strong work ethic and team chemistry, bringing together student-athletes from schools including Hartfield Academy, Sumrall, Clinton High School, Madison Central, Northwest Rankin, and Central Hinds.
When they’re not on the diamond, you’ll find our players embracing the outdoor traditions of Mississippi – hunting and fishing – or staying active with football and basketball. This well-rounded approach to athletics and outdoor activities helps develop not just skilled baseball players, but well-rounded young men. The MS Braves represent the future of baseball in central Mississippi, building on our region’s rich baseball tradition while creating their own legacy of excellence.
